Annie lived at the Mason Street station; was adopted in 1934 by workers of the Colorado & Southern Railway (they had found her sick and pregnant in Timnath), and used to greet the passengers who arrived at the station. She died in 1948 and her friends got a plaque made for her grave that reads: From C&S men to Annie, our dog, 1934-1948. There is an annual Annie Walk and her story was told on the book Annie The Railroad Dog, A True Story, by Arlene Ahlbrandt. |
